Author & Punisher

Author & Punisher is the industrial music project helmed by Tristan Shone, a mechanical engineer turned musician who hails from San Diego, California. Noted for his innovative and DIY approach to music, Shone's Author & Punisher persona disrupts the traditional landscape of heavy music by integrating custom-designed machinery and robotic instrumentation, which he refers to as "Drone Machines" and "Dub Machines." This dramatically unique setup allows him to deliver a visceral live performance experience, where mechanical sounds are manipulated in real-time, giving birth to haunting and relentless industrial soundscapes.

Since the project's conception in the early 2000s, Author & Punisher has released several albums that showcase Shone’s evolving mastery of his mechanical orchestra. Notable works include "Melk En Honing" (2015) and "Beastland" (2018), with the latter acclaimed for its critical blend of industrial, metal, and drone elements. His most recent album, "Krüller" (2022), continues to push the boundaries of what can be considered 'instrumental' music, infusing it with a dark and atmospheric intensity. Through this combination of human emotion and mechanical precision, Author & Punisher stands as a bold testament to the innovative possibilities of modern music.
