The Pembroke College Girls' Choir was founded in 2018 by Anna Lapwood, the Director of Music at Pembroke College, Cambridge. The choir consists of girls aged 11-18 from local schools around Cambridge, providing them with a comprehensive musical education and the opportunity to perform at a professional level. They rehearse twice a week and regularly sing Evensong alongside the College Chapel Choir. The choir specializes in contemporary music and has gained a reputation as one of the UK's leading girls' choirs. They have performed in notable events, including their London concert debut at St Martin-in-the-Fields and recording at Abbey Road Studios.
Recent releases include "The Waiting Sky," an EP that showcases their growth and versatility in choral music. The choir's repertoire ranges from simple to complex pieces, often featuring new and commissioned works. Their performances highlight their ability to adapt and excel in various musical settings, making them a vibrant part of the UK's choral scene.
