Witch Post is an indie rock duo formed by Montana singer-songwriter Alaska Reid and Scottish musician Dylan Fraser. Their collaboration began somewhat serendipitously after Fraser discovered Reid’s album during his train commutes and reached out to her on Instagram. Over several years of remote collaboration and correspondence, they eventually met in person and merged their distinct musical styles—Reid’s breathy, gruff vocals and Americana-influenced indie rock with Fraser’s soft, urgent alt-pop sensibility—into a new band sound that channels 90s alt-rock energy with a modern twist. Their music is characterized by dual vocals, catchy hooks, and gritty, emotionally charged indie rock, with songs like “Chill Out” exemplifying their raw, rebellious style.
The name Witch Post stems from a quirky moment when Reid kissed an actual 500-year-old “witch post,” a carved mantle piece meant to ward off witches, inspiring both the band’s name and a bit of their mystique. Despite being separated by an ocean, the duo’s transatlantic partnership has created a unique, cool vibe blending American indie rawness with Scottish rock swagger. They hope to revive the energy of classic band lore and the excitement of discovering new rock music, combining their individual backgrounds into something fresh, nostalgic, and compelling.
