Gerard Way is an American singer, songwriter, and comic book writer, widely recognized as the lead vocalist and co-founder of the rock band My Chemical Romance (MCR). Born on April 9, 1977, in Summit, New Jersey, Way became synonymous with the emo and punk rock scenes of the early 2000s, thanks in part to his distinctive vocal style and deeply personal and theatrical lyrics.
