Franz Grundheber is a German operatic baritone who has enjoyed a long and successful career. Born in Aachen, Germany, in 1943, Grundheber studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg. He made his professional debut in 1969 at the Hamburg State Opera, and went on to sing at major opera houses around the world, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House in London, and the Vienna State Opera. Grundheber is known for his powerful voice and his sensitive interpretations of a wide range of roles, from Mozart to Wagner. He has also recorded extensively, and his recordings have won numerous awards.
