Born in Alexandria, Egypt, Lagoya moved to Paris to study at the Conservatoire, where he honed his skills and developed a love for the classical guitar repertoire. His career took a significant trajectory when he teamed up with the equally gifted French guitarist Ida Presti, who would become his wife and musical partner. Together, they formed one of the most famous classical guitar duos in history, performing around the world and expanding the guitar's presence in classical music through their interpretations and commissioned works.

Lagoya's recordings are a testament to his mastery of the instrument and his dedication to the repertoire.
