Bill Summers is an American percussionist and composer, best known as a member of the jazz fusion ensemble Herbie Hancock's Headhunters. Born in 1948 in Detroit, Michigan, Summers began his music career in the 1960s, playing with various jazz and R&B groups. He is recognized for his unique blend of jazz, rock, and world music influences, which has made him a sought-after collaborator and session musician.
As a member of the Headhunters, Summers contributed to several of the band's most successful albums, including 'Head Hunters' and 'Thrust'. He has also released several solo albums, often incorporating elements of funk, rock, and Latin music into his work.
