Viviane Chassot, born in Zurich and based in Basel, is widely recognized as one of the world’s foremost accordionists. She began studying accordion at the age of 12 and earned her concert diploma from the University of Arts in Bern in 2006 under Teodoro Anzellotti. Chassot is celebrated for her courageous and highly musical interpretations, which span solo and chamber music performances. Her artistry has earned her prestigious awards and invitations to perform with eminent orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic and renowned conductors like Simon Rattle. She has a strong passion for expanding the accordion repertoire, including premiering numerous contemporary works and transcribing pieces from the Classical and Baroque periods to unlock new expressive possibilities for the instrument.
Chassot is also noted for her innovative arrangements and recordings that bring together diverse musical worlds, as exemplified in her album "Folk Flow," which features works by composers like Didier Squiban, Yann Tiersen, Eric Satie, and Ludovico Einaudi.
