Cassius

Cassius was a seminal French electronic music duo consisting of producers Philippe Zdar and Hubert Blanc-Francard, also known as Boom Bass. Having formed in 1996, the duo became a prominent figure in the French house scene which swelled in popularity during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Their signature sound, characterized by a fusion of house beats with elements of funk, hip-hop, and indie music, was instrumental in defining the touchstones of the genre often associated with the "French Touch" movement.

Over the course of their career, Cassius released a string of albums and singles that cemented their reputation in the electronic music world. Notable releases such as "I <3 U SO" from their 2010 album "The Rawkers" earned them a dedicated fan base and considerable acclaim. Their 2019 release "Dreems" showcased their enduring appeal and continued innovation in the years leading up to the tragic passing of Philippe Zdar in June 2019. Zdar's death was a significant loss to the music community, but the enduring legacy of Cassius's music continues to resonate with fans new and old. The tracks "Cause oui!", "Don't Let Me Be" and exhilarating remixes like "Siren Song (Cassius Remix)" and "I'm Not Defeated (Cassius Remix)" exemplify their unique blend of sounds that contributed to the landscape of electronic music.
