Steevio

Steevio is a pioneering figure in the electronic music scene, particularly known for his involvement in the UK's early electro and breakdance culture. He managed the UK's first electro/breakdance club, The Sidewalk, in Newcastle in 1982. Over the years, Steevio has evolved into a live techno artist, releasing music under various aliases and managing several techno labels, including the formation of Mindtours with Suzybee in 2000. He is also the co-founder of the Freerotation Festival, which has become a significant platform for showcasing his live hardware performances. Steevio is renowned for his unique modular synthesizer setup, which he uses to create jazz-infused, freeform electronic music. He often performs with his partner Suzybee as Steevio & Suzybee (Live AV) and has collaborated with other notable artists in projects like Circle of Live.

Steevio's music style is characterized by his use of modular synthesizers to create distinctive melodies and beats that diverge from traditional house and techno rhythms. His performances are often one-take jams, reflecting his preference for live, improvisational music. Steevio's work has been released on his own Mindtours label as well as other labels like UntilMyHeartStops and Schmorgasbord. Despite his busy schedule with Freerotation, Steevio continues to innovate and push the boundaries of electronic music production.
