The Wedding Present
The Wedding Present are an enduring force in British indie rock, formed in Leeds in 1985 and led by the ever-prolific frontman and songwriter David Gedge. Known for their jangly guitar sound, rapid-fire rhythms, and emotionally candid lyrics, the band quickly built a dedicated following with early releases like George Best and Bizarro. While often associated with the C86 scene, The Wedding Present have always charted their own path, blending post-punk urgency with melodic pop sensibility.

Innovative projects—like releasing a single every month in 1992 (later compiled as Hit Parade)—have helped cement their cult status. They continue to evolve and experiment with recent projects like 24 Songs, a 2022 endeavor that revisited their ambitious monthly singles approach, showing the same DIY spirit and heartfelt songwriting that have made them indie favorites for nearly four decades.
