Felice Romani

Felice Romani was an Italian librettist and poet who lived from 1788 to 1865. He's best known for his work with some of the biggest names in Italian opera during the 19th century, including Vincenzo Bellini and Gaetano Donizetti. Romani penned the librettos for several of Bellini's most famous operas, including "Norma" and "La Sonnambula," which are still performed and loved by opera fans today.

Romani had a knack for crafting dramatic, emotionally charged texts that perfectly complemented the music of the composers he worked with. His collaborations with Bellini are particularly celebrated, and their partnership produced some of the most enduring works in the bel canto opera tradition. While he might not be a household name like some of the composers he worked with, Felice Romani's contributions to Italian opera were huge, and his words continue to be sung on stages around the world.
