Foxygen

Foxygen is an American indie rock duo that has been capturing audiences with their avant-garde approach to music since their formation in 2005. The team consists of multi-instrumentalists Sam France and Jonathan Rado, two artists who met while still in high school in Westlake Village, California. They are noted for their experimental sound that fuses elements of psychedelic rock, pop, and sometimes theatrical baroque arrangements, a blend that nods to the influences of 1960s and 70s rock and pop music.

The duo's career took a notable leap forward with the release of their album "We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic" in 2013, which was met with critical acclaim. However, they refused to settle into a single style. Their subsequent releases showcased their versatility and continued evolution, with 2014's "...And Star Power" featuring a more lo-fi, chaotic sound, and 2017's "Hang" presenting a polished, grandiose production with a 40-piece orchestra. Albums like "Seeing Other People" and "Hang" both demonstrate their willingness to explore themes of disillusionment and irony while musically paying homage to the past, as well as venturing into new territories. Despite their whimsical stylings and unpredictable nature, Foxygen remains a captivating fixture within the indie music scene, consistently delivering thought-provoking reflections through their nostalgic, yet innovative lens.
