The Pollies

The Pollies are a dynamic Southern rock band rooted deeply in the rich musical heritage of Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Led by guitarist and founder Jay Burgess, the band is known for blending the traditional soulful sounds of their hometown with influences from artists like Wilco and Neil Young, creating a unique blend of Southern rock that mixes grit and beauty. The current lineup features Burgess on guitar, Spencer Duncan on bass, Jon Davis on drums, and Clint Chandler on keyboards. Over the years, The Pollies have supported notable artists such as Dylan LeBlanc and Nicole Atkins, and collaborated on projects with musicians like Browan Lollar and John Paul White. Their album *Transmissions* showcases their ability to combine heartfelt songwriting with a lively, independent Southern rock vibe, reflecting on themes of love and life with both subtlety and intensity.

In recent years, The Pollies have also merged creatively with vocalist Billy Allen, forming the hybrid act Billy Allen + The Pollies. This collaboration came about through a shared history as session musicians at FAME Studios and blossomed into a full partnership marked by the release of the album *Black Noise*. Produced by Grammy-winner Ben Tanner, *Black Noise* captures the band’s genre-defying sound that fuses classic rock with gospel, grunge, funk, and soul. Their music is characterized by its energy and emotional depth, reflecting a deep Southern spirit and a tight musical chemistry that feels both timeless and fresh.
