Channels

Channels is an American rock band formed in 2003, known for their engaging indie rock sound that often features intricate guitar work, insightful lyrics, and a blend of melodic and post-hardcore influences. The driving force behind the band's creation comes from J. Robbins, who is notably recognized as the frontman of the influential post-hardcore group Jawbox. Robbins formed Channels with his wife, Janet Morgan on bass and vocals, and later Darren Zentek on drums, both of whom he met through his previous band, Burning Airlines.

Among Channels' most significant works is their 2006 release, "Waiting For The Next End Of The World," an album that offers a collection of songs showcasing the trio’s capacity for crafting dynamic and thought-provoking music. The band combines reflective lyricism with a sound that can shift from moody landscapes to driving energy, a testament to their seasoned musicianship. Prior to that album, they debuted with the EP "Open" in 2004, which set the stage for their layered sound and penchant for weaving atmospheric tension with alt-rock sensibilities. Their other notable release "Backpfeifengesicht / Airstrip One" delivers a punch of their evolved sound, perfectly encapsulating their unique style and the talent that makes Channels a noteworthy ensemble in the indie rock genre. Despite not being a full-time project, Channels has retained a dedicated following, and their work continues to resonate with fans seeking depth and creativity in rock music.
