DJ Qbert

DJ Qbert, born Richard Quitevis on October 7, 1969, in San Francisco, is regarded as one of the most influential figures in contemporary turntablism. His reputation was solidified in the 1990s as a member of the pioneering scratch DJ crew, the Invisible Scratch Piklz. With his innovative approach to the turntables, Qbert transformed the DJ decks into a musical instrument in their own right, developing complex scratch patterns, beats, and sounds that have inspired legions of DJs and turntablists worldwide.

A multiple-time DMC World DJ Championships winner, DJ Qbert is known for his intricate and rhythmic scratching techniques, his ability to tell stories through his turntable compositions, and his role in advancing the art of turntablism. He channeled his unique style and passion for the artform into acclaimed releases such as "Wave Twisters" which eventually led to an animated film adaptation. His discography extends into a plethora of inventive projects that continue to push the boundaries of turntablism, as seen in his latest works including "Origins (Wave Twisters Zero)" and "Next Cosmos." As a pioneer and a constant innovator, DJ Qbert's legacy is not only archived in his numerous albums and battle records, but also in the skills of every DJ influenced by his revolutionary techniques.
