Deep Blue Something is an American rock band best known for their 1995 hit single "Breakfast at Tiffany's." The band was formed in 1992 in Denton, Texas, by brothers Todd and Toby Pipes, along with Kirk Tatom, and John Kirtland. Their initial release, an 11-track album titled '11th Song,' was released in 1993. However, it was their 1995 album 'Home,' featuring the catchy single that recounted Audrey Hepburn's classic film, which brought them international fame. "Breakfast at Tiffany's" rose to the top of the charts in multiple countries and cemented the band's place in 90s pop culture.
Despite the massive success of "Breakfast at Tiffany's," Deep Blue Something struggled to replicate their earlier success with subsequent releases. Their follow-up album, 'Byzantium,' was released in 1996 but did not achieve the commercial success of 'Home.' The band continued to create and release music including a self-titled album 'Deep Blue Something' in 2001, though they eventually went on hiatus. After a considerable break, they reformed and returned to the studio, resulting in the release of the 'Locust House' EP in 2015, which showed a matured sound and hinted at the breadth of their songwriting abilities. Despite the challenges of maintaining the spotlight, the band has continued making music, with their latest release being the single "Cherry Lime Rickey" in 2020. Deep Blue Something remains a nostalgic name for those who cherish the music of the '90s, and they continue to tour and engage with their dedicated fan base.
