764-Hero

764-Hero was an indie rock band based in Seattle, Washington, active primarily in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The band formed in 1995 and originally consisted of John Atkins (also of Hush Harbor) on vocals and guitar and Polly Johnson on drums. In 1998, ex-Sunny Day Real Estate bassist Nate Mendel briefly joined for a collaborative EP. Later, James Bertram (of Lync and Built to Spill) became the permanent bassist.

Known for blending emotionally resonant lyrics with dynamic guitar-driven arrangements, 764-Hero was a staple of the Pacific Northwest's post-grunge and indie scenes. They released several records including Get Here and Stay (1998), Weekends of Sound (2000), and Nobody Knows This Is Everywhere (2002), gaining a dedicated following for their introspective yet powerful sound. Though they disbanded in the early 2000s, their music remains influential among fans of underground indie rock.
