Jazzchor Freiburg

**Jazzchor Freiburg** is this awesome vocal jazz choir from Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, founded back in 1990 by the talented Bertrand Gröger, who's been leading them with his killer arrangements ever since. They've rocked stages across Europe, Asia (like epic tours in Japan, Korea, China, and Russia), and beyond, teaming up with jazz legends such as Bobby McFerrin, the Swingle Singers, New York Voices, and even big orchestras like the Bamberg Symphoniker—plus they've snagged first-place wins at competitions like the Deutscher Chorwettbewerb in 1998 and the Choir Olympiad in Korea in 2002.

Their sound blends tight a cappella vibes with swinging band backups (piano, bass, drums, and cool guest soloists), and they've dropped killer albums like *Live in Japan*, *A Cappella* (2012), *Infusion* (2019), *Palettes*, *Der Mond ist aufgegangen*, *Gracious*, and the fresh *Sacred*. After over 35 years, Gröger's stepping down in 2025-2026, passing the baton to Julian Knörzer, but the choir's jazzy spirit is set to keep grooving strong.
