Fini Henriques

Fini Henriques was a Danish composer and violinist known for his charming, lyrical compositions that celebrated Romantic traditions and Danish musical heritage. Born in 1867, Henriques studied violin at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and further honed his craft in Berlin. A contemporary and friend of the great Carl Nielsen, Henriques carved out a successful career not only as a performer but also as a prolific composer of orchestral works, chamber music, and vocal pieces.

He had a particular flair for writing accessible, emotionally rich music, and he often infused his works with a distinct Nordic character. Though not as widely known internationally today, his compositions—especially for piano and violin—continue to be cherished for their melodic warmth and expressive clarity. From Danish songs and romances to orchestral suites and solo pieces, Fini Henriques remains a beloved figure in Denmark’s musical history.
