Mohammad Mostafa Heydarian

Mohammad Mostafa Heydarian is a young Kurdish tanbur player from Kermanshah, Iran. Born on January 1, 2002, he was immersed in traditional music from an early age, thanks to his father, who played the daf and built instruments. Heydarian learned the tanbur under various master teachers and even crafted his own instruments. His music career took a significant turn when he collaborated with French musician Valentin Portron, leading to his debut album, *Songs of Horaman*, released in 2021. This album blended traditional Kurdish and Persian elements with a contemporary touch. His second album, *Noor-e Vojood* (The Light of Existence), released in 2025, continues his exploration of traditional music with a focus on meditative and hypnotic rhythms. Heydarian currently studies Persian classical music at Tehran University, further deepening his connection to the rich musical heritage of his region.

Heydarian's music is characterized by its ability to transport listeners to a peaceful state, blending the ancient with the modern. His compositions often feature the tanbur accompanied by percussion instruments like the daf and dohool. Tracks such as *Bâyeh Bâyeh* and *Bârieh* showcase his skill in balancing traditional maqams with personal creativity. His work is not only a reflection of his cultural roots but also an offering that seeks to connect and transcend through music.
