Aparna Mayekar

Dr. Aparna Mayekar is a remarkable multilingual singer and practicing doctor with a career spanning nearly six decades. Beginning her musical journey at the tender age of seven, she was nurtured in a musically rich environment, receiving classical training from esteemed gurus including Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki and Smt. Shobha Gurtu. Over the years, she has lent her voice to more than 5,000 songs in 14 Indian languages and has composed music for Marathi films. She has also recorded over 1,000 cassettes and CDs and sung playback for iconic actresses like Sridevi and Rekha. Dr. Mayekar’s talent and contribution to music have been recognized with prestigious awards including the Dada Saheb Phalke Award.
