C³i

**C³i** is a German punk band from Hamburg, formed in 1986 after the breakup of the punk band Torpedo Moskau. The group was founded by bassist Arne "Uncool Sam" Wagner and guitarist Rudi Raschberger, with drummer Marc Wills—who had been part of Torpedo Moskau—joining initially before leaving the band the same year to focus on other hardcore punk projects. The band's name, suggested by the writer Peter Glaser, references the U.S. military acronym Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence (C³i), and also alludes to the symbolic "eye in the pyramid" associated with the U.S. dollar bill's "Eye of Providence." C³i is known for their raw punk sound with personal and somewhat cryptic lyrics, and they released works like *Demoaufnahmen von 1987*, *Start*, *Kurz danach*, and the single *Das Profil / Nicht gut drauf*. Though Marc Wills left early on, he occasionally played with the band at concerts. C³i is part of the rich Hamburg punk scene lineage that includes many notable punk acts from the 1980s.
