Vivien Goldman is a British music writer, journalist, and musician whose work sits at the crossroads of punk, reggae, and post-punk. She became known for writing about (and being closely connected to) the late-’70s/early-’80s UK scene, contributing to outlets such as *NME* and *Sounds*, and she’s often been recognized for championing reggae and dub-influenced sounds within punk’s orbit. Goldman also authored the book *The Book of Exodus: The Making and Meaning of Bob Marley and the Wailers’ Album of the Century*.
As a performer, Goldman recorded her own sharp, politically charged songs in the same era—most notably the “Launderette” single—and worked with key figures from the punk and reggae worlds. Her recordings from that period have been revisited and collected later on, including releases that compile her early songs and collaborations.
