Mind over MIDI

Mind over MIDI, the solo project of Helge Tømmervåg, hails from Kristiansund on the west coast of Norway. Helge began his journey in electronic music in the early 1980s, initially as part of the synth-pop band ToC. He later transitioned to his solo project, Mind over MIDI, which was signed to Beatservice Records in 1995. His early work was influenced by British experimental artists like µ-ziq, Autechre, and Aphex Twin. Over time, his style evolved into more minimalistic soundscapes, incorporating elements of ambient, dark ambient, and drone music, often inspired by the Arctic environment and artists like Biosphere.

Helge Tømmervåg continued to release music on various labels, including Silent Seasons, Diametric, Hibernate, Whitelabrecs, and ROHS Records, as well as his own Berserk Fabrik. His recent releases include titles like *Habitat Debris*, *RT35.CON.GRATZ*, *Falling*, *Lende*, *Tussmørke*, *Observe*, *Landforms*, *Explore*, *Geophony*, and *Fieldwork*. Unfortunately, Helge passed away in August 2023, but his legacy continues through ongoing efforts to re-release his extensive catalog on streaming platforms.
