Friedrich Kalkbrenner was a German-French pianist, composer, and teacher who lived from 1785 to 1849. He was known for his virtuosic playing and his innovative compositions, which helped to shape the development of Romantic piano music. Kalkbrenner was also a prolific teacher, and his students included some of the most famous pianists of the 19th century, such as Franz Liszt and Frédéric Chopin.
