Warhaus

Warhaus is the musical alias of Maarten Devoldere, a Belgian musician and songwriter best known as one of the frontmen of the indie-rock band Balthazar. Warhaus emerges as Devoldere's solo project, weaving a rich tapestry of dark, sensual, and poetic music that blends elements of indie rock, jazz, and pop. His lyrical prowess showcases a noir-esque romanticism, marked by a baritone voice that oozes charisma and mystery. The project debuted with the album "We Fucked a Flame into Being" in 2016, a title taken from a D.H. Lawrence quote, setting the tone for Warhaus's exploration of love, desire, and existential musings.

The subsequent releases, including the self-titled album "Warhaus" in 2017 and tracks like "Love's a Stranger," "Mad World," and "Ha Ha Heartbreak," highlight Devoldere's evolution as a solo artist. His music is characterized by its cinematic feel, seductive melodies, and introspective lyrics, often complemented by the contributions of Sylvie Kreusch, whose vocals add another layer of depth and allure to the Warhaus sound. Through songs like "Popcorn," featuring Kreusch, and "Time Bomb," Warhaus captivates listeners with tales of passion and heartache, encapsulating the essence of modern noir pop. As Warhaus continues to release music, Maarten Devoldere cements his place as a distinctive voice in the contemporary music scene, crafting soundscapes that are as haunting as they are beautiful.
