Blue Slate

Blue Slate is an Irish post-punk band from Kildare, formed by childhood friends John Harney and Pierce Devine. The band's origins trace back to a casual encounter outside a bar in Naas, where they decided to jam together. Initially, they had a short-lived lineup, but it wasn't long before they found their current members, including James Hargreaves on bass and Tim Tora on drums. Their music is characterized by its honest and introspective lyrics, often addressing themes like body dysmorphia and alcoholism. One of their notable releases is the EP "This Is How I Sleep At Night," which features tracks like "Beaker" and the title song itself. The band draws inspiration from various musical influences, including 90s alternative and 60s psychedelic music.

Blue Slate's creative process often begins with John and Pierce working on ideas, which they then develop with the rest of the band. Their music is a reflection of their personal experiences and emotions, aiming to create an honest platform for expression. The band has been gaining attention for their energetic live performances and distinctive sound, which blends elements of post-punk and alternative rock. Recent releases include songs like "Wipers," showcasing their ability to craft compelling melodies and guitar riffs. Despite their name having no deep meaning, Blue Slate is making a mark in the music scene with their unique blend of rock and alternative elements.
