Stretch

"Stretch" was a British rock band that emerged in the music scene during the mid-1970s. They were initially formed in 1974 by guitarist and vocalist Elmer Gantry, and bassist Jim Russell, with the aim of filling in for the absent American band Fleetwood Mac on a US tour, a venture which ultimately did not materialize. Stretch gained notable attention with their unique blend of blues, soul, and rock influences, imbuing their performance with an energizing groove that captivated audiences of their time.

The band's most renowned single, "Why Did You Do It," came off their debut album "Elastique," released in 1975. The track's gritty riff and candid lyrics addressing feelings of betrayal became an anthem that solidified their standing in the rock world. Over the years, Stretch has continued to hold a place in the hearts of classic rock enthusiasts, with several remixes and compilations breathing new life into their iconic sound. Despite lineup changes and the ebb and flow of their presence on the music scene, their legacy continues through their memorable tracks and the indelible mark they've left on the rock genre. The band's tenacity and ability to adapt over time are mirrored in their latest releases such as "Disagreement" and "Back To School," where they maintain their trademark energy while diving into contemporary issues, showcasing the timeless nature of their music.
