Wipes is a three-piece noise rock and grunge outfit from the Allentown/Bethlehem area of Pennsylvania, originally formed as an offshoot of the long-running band Tile. When Tile’s guitarist couldn’t commit to touring, bassist/vocalist Ray Gurz and drummer Michael Dumoff teamed up with guitarist Matt Molchany to start Wipes, writing music at a furious pace and quickly releasing early material. The band blends sludgy noise rock with off-kilter melodies and a raw, energetic spirit, earning recognition for their debut album *Making Friends* and building a buzz with split releases and relentless live performances.
Wipes are known for their chaotic, exuberant sound—infused with heavy distortion and a “take it or leave it” attitude—that stands out even among veteran noise rock acts. Their discography highlights include *Don’t Tell My Parents*, *Social Mask*, *Making Friends*, and a split release with Day Job. The band continues to tour extensively, recently playing at festivals and venues across the Midwest and Northeast, and has gained a following for their confrontational, honest approach to punk and noise rock.
