Brownsville Station

Brownsville Station was a high-energy American rock band best known for their raucous stage presence and their 1973 hit single “Smokin’ in the Boys Room,” which became a teenage anthem and later received an even wider audience when it was covered by Mötley Crüe in the 1980s. Formed in Ann Arbor, Michigan in the late 1960s, Brownsville Station blended elements of hard rock, glam, and boogie, drawing inspiration from both the Detroit garage rock scene and classic 1950s rock & roll.

The band’s lineup included guitarist/vocalist Cub Koda, who brought a raw and gritty style to their sound, along with Michael Lutz, Tony Driggins, and Henry “H-Bomb” Weck. They carved out a reputation for fun, rebellious tunes and wild live performances, releasing albums like School Punks and Yeah!, and remaining active through the mid-1970s. Though their mainstream popularity waned after their peak, Brownsville Station left a lasting mark on rock history with their good-time music and rebellious spirit.
