Vox Luminis is a radiant early music ensemble founded in 2004 by Belgian bass Lionel Meunier. Based in Namur, Belgium, this vocal and instrumental group has carved out a niche as one of Europe’s most refined interpreters of Baroque sacred music, particularly German works from the 17th and 18th centuries. Known for their crystalline blend and historically informed performances, they breathe fresh life into composers like Schütz, Biber, Bach, and lesser-known figures such as Andreas Hammerschmidt. Their Gramophone Award-winning 2012 recording of Schütz’s *Musikalische Exequien* catapulted them to international acclaim, though they maintain a humble, collaborative spirit – often performing without a conductor. Recent releases like *Ein Deutsches Barockrequiem* and *Bach: Kyrie a 6* showcase their knack for unearthing emotionally resonant gems from the choral repertoire, delivered with both scholarly care and visceral impact.
