Wormlust

Wormlust is the atmospheric and experimental black metal project of Icelandic multi-instrumentalist and vocalist H.V. Lyngdal. Hailing from Reykjavík, the project emerged from the city's distinctive and often psychedelic-tinged extreme metal scene, with its sound evolving from raw black metal into a more expansive, cosmic, and dissonant form of atmospheric metal. The music is known for its immersive, hypnotic quality, blending harsh, frostbitten vocals with swirling, textured guitars and unconventional song structures.

The project gained significant attention with the 2013 full-length debut "The Feral Wisdom," a landmark release that helped define Iceland's unique atmospheric black metal identity. After a long hiatus, Wormlust returned in 2023 with the highly anticipated sophomore album "Kosmískur hryllingur" (which translates to "Cosmic Horror"), further exploring dark, ambient soundscapes and pushing the boundaries of the genre. H.V. Lyngdal is also known for his work with other notable Icelandic bands like Misþyrming and Naðra, solidifying his role as a key figure in the country's extreme music underground.
