Francisco Guerau was a Spanish Baroque guitarist and composer who lived from 1649 to 1722. He was born in Calatayud, Aragon, and studied music in Madrid. Guerau was a virtuoso guitarist and is considered one of the most important figures in the development of the instrument. He wrote a number of guitar pieces, including the "Poema Harmónico," which is one of the most famous and influential guitar pieces of the Baroque era. Guerau also composed music for the vihuela, a plucked string instrument that was popular in Spain during the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
