Hoelderlin

Hoelderlin is a progressive rock band that originates from Germany, with a storied history that dates back to the 1970s. Named after the German poet Friedrich Hölderlin, the group is known for their unique blend of progressive elements with folk and occasionally classical influences. The band began its journey in the underground music scene and quickly evolved from their folk roots to a more symphonic and complex sound that characterised the progressive rock movement of that time.

Hoelderlin's creative output through the 1970s saw to the release of critically acclaimed albums such as "Hölderlins Traum," "Clowns and Clouds," and "Rare Birds," which showcased the band's knack for poetic lyrics, intricate instrumental passages, and adventurous compositions. Although they experienced several lineup changes and periods of inactivity, Hoelderlin has left an indelible mark on the prog-rock landscape. Their music continues to be celebrated by enthusiasts, with live recordings like "Traumstadt Live From Wuppertal Operahouse, Germany/1977" and their appearance on "Live at Rockpalast (Live, Bonn, 2005)" providing fans with a taste of their compelling live performances. The remastered edition of "Hölderlins Traum" serves as a testament to the band's enduring legacy in the German rock scene.
