Black Veil Brides, often abbreviated BVB, is an American rock band that was formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2006. The group is known for their distinctive amalgam of glam metal, hard rock, and metalcore, along with their dramatic black makeup, body paint, tight black studded clothing, and long hair, which was heavily inspired by the stage personas of Kiss and Mötley Crüe, as well as other 1980s glam metal acts. Founded by lead vocalist and pianist Andy Biersack (professionally known as Andy Black or previously Andy Six), the lineup has gone through several changes over the years, with Biersack remaining as the constant driving force.
Black Veil Brides' music is characterized by its anthemic sound, high-energy performances, and dark, often conceptual, lyrical content. With albums like "Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones" and "Set the World on Fire," they've built a passionate fan base, lovingly called the BVB Army. Their style has evolved steadily, shifting from a heavy metal influence to a more polished rock sound as seen in their more recent works such as "Vale" and "The Phantom Tomorrow." Their longevity in the music scene is further asserted by their continued ability to churn out hits, with singles like "Scarlet Cross" and "Fields of Bone" among their latest releases. Despite the changes in line-up and style, Black Veil Brides consistently retains their core ethos and theatricality, marking their indelible stamp on the rock genre.
