Fredy Studer

Fredy Studer is a renowned Swiss drummer and percussionist born on June 16, 1948, in Lucerne, Switzerland, where he still resides. He is an autodidact who began playing drums at the age of 16. Studer's musical career spans over four decades, marked by eclectic collaborations and performances across various genres. He has worked with a wide range of musicians, from John Abercrombie to John Zorn, and has been part of several notable projects, including the Jimi Hendrix Project and the revived "OM" band. Known for his innovative style, which combines open improvisation and grooves, Studer has been recognized as one of the most innovative drummers in Europe. His work has been documented on more than 90 recordings, showcasing his versatility and creative approach to music.

Studer's current projects include the hardcore chamber music trio "Koch-Schütz-Studer" and collaborations with artists like Katharina Weber and Fred Frith.
