Portsmouth Cathedral Choir is a distinguished choral group made up of 24 boy choristers and a team of Lay Clerks and Choral Scholars who contribute to the daily worship at Portsmouth Cathedral. They rehearse weekday mornings before school and perform regularly at services, special events, and concerts both locally and internationally. The choir has toured extensively, including countries like Belgium, Holland, Sweden, France, Estonia, and Germany, and has performed at iconic venues such as St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, and the Queen’s private chapel at Windsor Castle. They maintain strong ties to the Royal Navy, participating in various naval ceremonies and services, reflecting their unique naval heritage connection.
The choir’s recordings include albums such as *Plainsong: The Echo of Angels*, *Music for Seafarers*, and *In Your Image*, showcasing their range from traditional plainchant to contemporary church music. They have been featured on BBC Radio 3’s Choral Evensong and have gained recognition for their high standard of cathedral music. Beyond performance, the choir is supported by a dedicated team ensuring the wellbeing and education balance of the choristers, emphasizing both musical excellence and care.
