Christina Kubisch is a German composer and sound artist known for working at the intersection of music, technology, and environment. Active in experimental and electroacoustic music for decades, she’s widely recognized for exploring hidden sonic phenomena—especially electromagnetic fields—as musical material.
One of her best-known bodies of work is her series of “Electrical Walks,” in which audiences use specially adapted headphones to “listen” to the electromagnetic activity of everyday urban infrastructure (like power lines, security systems, and transit networks). Across installations, performances, and recordings, Kubisch has built a reputation for making the normally inaudible world feel vivid, physical, and surprisingly musical.
