The Publics

The Publics are a five-piece indie rock band from Mansfield, known for their energetic and anthemic sound that combines catchy riffs and powerful choruses. Formed in 2019 by Josh Porter and Elliot Stephenson, the band expanded during the national lockdown, adding James Keith on drums, Euan Finch on bass, and a young singer-songwriter named Ebony. Their music draws inspiration from 90s dance and female pop artists, blending these influences with the indie sound of bands like Catfish and the Bottlemen and Arctic Monkeys. Recent releases include their debut EP "I Know The World Stopped, but Why Did You?", which features tracks like "Karen's Song" and showcases the band's ability to craft stadium-worthy melodies with grounded storytelling.

The Publics have been making waves in the UK indie scene, securing high-profile support slots alongside bands such as The Sherlocks and performing at notable festivals like YNOT? and Splendour. Their live shows are marked by infectious energy and engaging stage presence, setting them up as a band to watch in the indie rock landscape. Fans and critics alike anticipate their future releases and performances, as they continue to build momentum with a strong gigging schedule and a dedicated fanbase.
