YAZ, the synth-pop duo of Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke, emerged from the ashes of Depeche Mode in 1982. Clarke, the band's former keyboardist, teamed up with Moyet, a soulful vocalist, to create a unique sound that blended catchy melodies with electronic beats. Their debut single, "Only You," became a massive hit, propelling them to international fame. YAZ released a string of successful albums throughout the '80s, including "Upstairs at Eric's" and "Wanted," before disbanding in 1983. Moyet went on to pursue a successful solo career, while Clarke formed Erasure with Andy Bell.
