oui merci

**oui merci** is a **Montreal-based indie-rock band** that formed in 2019 when five friends—Mathilde Joncas, Ludovic Leblond, Laurent Massie, Marc-Antoine Lavallée, and Gabriel Couture—decided to make music together while living as roommates. Their sound blends polished indie-rock with arrangements that swing between surgical precision and intentional chaos, drawing inspiration from artists like Dirty Projectors, Animal Collective, and Feist. The band describes their music as "a small hurricane of intertwined emotions"—sincere, rooted in the present moment, and fundamentally driven by the desire to create together.

The group released their debut album *ok bebye* on September 29, 2023, recorded at Studio Wild in their native Lanaudière region. The album showcases their range, with songs that function as intimate confessions to absent loved ones alongside explosive moments of rage and exaltation that demand dancing. Thematically, flowers, cars, free love, and dependencies weave through a singular universe that embraces life's contradictions—capturing both the sweetness and the wildness of friendship. Following the album's release, they performed at notable festivals including the Francos de Montréal, FME, and Saint-Roch XP.
