Echobelly

Echobelly is a British alternative rock band that rose to prominence during the 1990s Britpop movement. Formed in London in 1993 by singer Sonya Madan and guitarist Glenn Johansson, the band quickly made a name for themselves with their sharp, melodic sound and Madan’s distinctive vocals and introspective lyrics. Their 1994 debut album, Everyone’s Got One, was well-received and included standout tracks like “Insomniac” and “I Can't Imagine the World Without Me,” helping them earn a devoted fan base.

The band continued to release a string of albums throughout the '90s and early 2000s, including On (1995), Lustra (1997), and People Are Expensive (2001), evolving their sound while maintaining their thoughtful songwriting. Despite lineup changes and a hiatus, Echobelly returned with Anarchy and Alchemy in 2017, marking a strong comeback. With Madan and Johansson still at the core, Echobelly remains a cherished name in the Britpop and indie rock scenes.
