Broken Bells

Broken Bells is an American indie rock band formed in 2009, a supergroup comprising artist-producer Danger Mouse (Brian Burton) and James Mercer, the lead vocalist and guitarist for the indie rock band The Shins. The collaboration initially surprised many, combining Mercer's melodic songwriting and distinct vocals with Danger Mouse's knack for lush, layered productions. Broken Bells debuted with their self-titled album in 2010, garnering critical acclaim and commercial success. The album showcased a mix of alternative rock, space rock, and psychedelic music, demonstrating the duo's ability to blend their distinct musical backgrounds into a cohesive and captivating sound.

Over the years, Broken Bells have continued to evolve, releasing several albums and EPs that further explore the intersections of indie rock, electronica, and psychedelia. Their projects, such as "After the Disco" (2014), delve into themes of disillusionment and existential pondering, wrapped in their signature soundscapes that combine analog and digital instruments. The duo's releases, including singles like "Holding on for Life" and "It's That Talk Again," stand as testament to their innovative approach to music-making and their ability to craft songs that are at once introspective and universally resonant. As they venture into new musical territories with releases like "INTO THE BLUE" and "Good Luck," Broken Bells continue to solidify their place in the pantheon of contemporary music by deftly balancing artistic experimentation with accessible pop sensibilities.
