Lale Koçgün is a Kurdish-Alevi musician born in 1983 in Mainz, Germany, with family roots from the Koçgiri region of Sivas-İmranlı in Turkey. She began her musical journey at a young age, exploring traditional Koçgiri music alongside her cousin Cemil Koçgiri and learning to play the bağlama, a key folk instrument in her cultural heritage. Lale has blended her deep connection to traditional melodies with formal musical training received at the Veroz Music School. She started performing publicly at 16 in Germany and has since built a dedicated career focused on preserving and innovating within Turkish and Kurdish folk music traditions.

Her artistic path includes collaborating on albums with Cemil Koçgiri and Mikail Aslan, and forming her own music group featuring talented musicians like Eser Baki and Ali Erel. Lale’s debut album, *Sırr-ı Dem*, marked a significant step in sharing her voice and style, which combines raw folk roots with contemporary influences. She remains an active performer and recording artist, known for her evocative vocals and skilled bağlama playing, with releases such as *Leyli Turnam*, *Paydā*, and *Sowle To* showcasing her evolving artistry and dedication to her cultural origins.
