Bağlama music is a Turkish folk-rooted genre centered on the bağlama (saz), a long‑necked lute whose bright, buzzing timbre carries both driving dance rhythms and deeply narrative songs. Drawing from Alevi-Bektaşi traditions, Anatolian regional styles, and the aşık troubadour lineage, it features intricate picking (tezene) or fingerstyle (şelpe), modal melodies (makam-flavored), and shifting meters like 5/8, 7/8, and 9/8.
