Magic Man is an American indie rock band that originated in Providence, Rhode Island, but really started to come into their own upon relocating to Boston, Massachusetts. Formed in 2010, the group initially began as a duo consisting of childhood friends Alex Caplow (vocals) and Sam Lee (guitars and keyboard), who started making music during a trip to France, hence the name Magic Man as a nod to their magical experiences there. With a sound that combines infectious melodies, synth-driven hooks, and energetic performances, they quickly gained traction in the indie music scene.

The band's debut album, "Real Life Color," arrived in 2010, but it was their 2013 EP "You Are Here" and subsequent 2014 album "Before the Waves" that garnered them significant attention, leading to their major breakthrough. The album's synthesis of anthemic choruses and electronic-pop made hits out of tracks like "Paris" and "Out of Mind." This success led to national tours and high-profile gigs, further amplifying their reach. They followed up "Before the Waves" with a collection of remixes and a live Spotify Sessions recording, showcasing their dynamic adaptability and willingness to engage with their listeners through multiple formats. While Magic Man’s lineup evolved over time, with changes and additions, the core of their sound remained true to their origins: heartfelt and spirited, inviting listeners on an emotive, rhythmic journey.
