Echoes and Signals is a Russian musical project founded by songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, and producer Fedor Kivokurtsev. The project began in 2012 as an instrumental act, drawing inspiration from progressive rock and post/math rock genres. Initially, Echoes and Signals released conceptual EPs "Comma" and "Ouroboros," followed by their first full-length album "V" in 2014. This album marked a shift towards incorporating vocals into their music. Subsequent albums, such as "Monodrama" in 2017 and "Mercurial" in 2021, further developed their sound, with themes inspired by psychotherapy and alchemical processes, respectively. Their latest album, "Lunar," was released in 2023. Echoes and Signals have shared stages with notable bands like Pain of Salvation and Sólstafir.
Over the years, the project has involved various musicians, including Alexey Zaytsev on bass and several drummers such as Yaroslav Egorov, Vladimir Pozdyshev, Leo Margarit, and Alexander Kulkov. Guest vocalists like Mariana Semkina and Valentin Berezin have also contributed to their work. The name "Echoes and Signals" refers to the philosophical concept of "unity of opposites," reflecting the band's thematic exploration through music.
