Ken Thorne (1924–2014) was a British composer and arranger best known for his work in film and television. He became a go-to musical craftsman in the U.K., writing scores and contributing arrangements that could swing from playful comedy to full-on orchestral drama, all with a polished, classic feel.
He’s especially remembered for his association with director Richard Lester, including his work on *The Beatles’ Help!* (for which he won an Academy Award) and *A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum*. Over a long career he also scored and arranged music for a wide range of movies and TV productions, and many of his soundtrack recordings have been reissued in collections highlighting his versatility and sharp musical instincts.
