Hawkestrel is the cosmic brainchild of British musician Alan Davey, best known as the former bassist for space rock pioneers Hawkwind. This interstellar project serves as Davey's creative outlet to explore psychedelic rock territory while honoring his Hawkwind roots, often collaborating with fellow space cadets from the genre's orbit. Their recent releases like "Chaos Rocks" and "Evil Rock (2023 AD)" blast listeners into familiar lysergic landscapes with modern production twists, while tracks like their cover of "Silver Machine" pay direct homage to Davey's space rock heritage. The project's 2023 output shows Davey keeping one foot in classic space rock and the other pushing toward new sonic frontiers, complete with those trippy, sci-fi soaked vibes that defined his work with Hawkwind.
